Alain Lescart writes award-winning YA fantasy — the Norwesis Chronicles, a series about a boy, a gnome, and a world where the sun itself can be put out.

For most of his career, he taught other people's fantasy novels. A retired professor and former Director of the French Program at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, he spent decades teaching French literature, science fiction, and the literature of the fantastic, and contributed to the Dictionnaire de la Fantasy. The Norwesis Chronicles is what came of all that reading.

The Bloodstones of Power won the International Impact Book Award for Mythic and Creature Fantasy in June 2026. Kirkus called it "an often amusing, action-packed romp that celebrates friendship, goodness, and the power that comes from being true to oneself."

Born in Menton, France, Alain now lives in the San Bernardino Mountains, where the forests and the stones keep turning up in his books. Two more Norwesis novels arrive later this year: The Curse (Book 2) and Jebeddo the Trickster (Book 4). He is also the author of The Yarn of the Carpet, a standalone fantasy set in India, and the Chest Mate series featuring Candice Holloway.

Outside of writing, Alain spends time with his Birman cats, cooks French food, hikes, paints in watercolor, and takes photographs.
